The Mississippi Burn Camp Foundation offers a free camp for young burn survivors ages 7-17 staffed by volunteers and funded by donations. All proceeds go directly to the camp operations and activities-there are no paid personnel.
The camp began in 1996 and staffed by volunteers, including firefighters, teachers, healthcare workers, nurses and others. The camp is offered at no charge to the participants and includes food, lodging, activity supplies, camp t-shirts and a week of fun and entertainment.
The fundamental requirement for application and approval foe camp attendance is that the child has suffered a burn that has required doctors care. All applications must have medical approval by a doctor prior to camp attendance and participation.
The camp is held at Warner-Tully YMCA Camp, Port Gibson, MS. Memorial Day week beginning Sunday and ending on Thursday.
